Design and manufacture of M.S, S.S and Aluminium floor gratings and stair treads — from a single Chennai workshop, since 1998.
Sri Ranga Grating Works specialises in the design and manufacturing of Mild Steel (M.S), Stainless Steel (S.S) and Aluminium floor gratings and stair treads. Our works at T.S. 50A, Thiru-Vi-Ka Industrial Estate, Ekkattuthangal supplies projects across India — from petrochemical platforms to fertilizer plants, oil rigs, infrastructure walkways and trench covers.
Every grating is engineered to carry the desired live load (UDL) in addition to its self-weight, conforming to IS 800 and the National Building Code. Bearing flats and bars are sourced rerolled to IS 2062.
Talk to UsGratings are made from rerolled flats and bars in which the main load-bearing flat runs in one direction at a pre-determined pitch, kept in position by secondary members.
Configuration is normally rectangular. Gratings are also manufactured in special shapes to suit the floor profile to be grated. Cut-outs are provided where necessary to clear obstructions like pipes, columns, hand rails and ladder openings.
Toe plates are provided at the edge of the grating or around a cut-out, projecting above the surface to form a curb. They are also called kick plates.
Square bars, round bars, tor steel, flats, or sinusoidal (wavy) flat or rod — chosen to maintain a pre-determined pitch and to suit the live load and span of the panel.
A step tread is a panel of grating having end plates with holes for fixing arrangement, with or without nosing bars. Treads are supplied bolted or welded with site-ready mounting lugs.
Gratings and step treads are supplied as standard with one coat of red oxide primer paint. They are also supplied with enamel paint or hot-dip galvanizing at extra cost — galvanising is recommended for outdoor and corrosive environments.
Deflection of gratings at full load is 1/325 of the span or 10 mm — whichever is less.
Every panel that leaves our works is verified against the following tolerances.
| Parameter | Tolerance |
|---|---|
| Width and Length | +0, −3 mm |
| Diagonals (difference) | ±5 mm |
| Traverse bow / bent before erection | ±3 mm |
| Longitudinal bow / bent | ±5 mm |
| Main bearing bar lean | ±2 mm |
| Ups and downs of load & secondary members | ±1 mm |
| Joint | Specification |
|---|---|
| Butt weld — load member with frame member | 3 mm fillet, one side, both ends |
| Weld between load & secondary member | 2 mm fillet, min 15 mm length at each intersection (bottom side only) |
Three grating types we routinely manufacture for demanding industrial environments.
For non-slip purpose at fertilizer plants and oil rigs. Notched bearing bars resist slip in oily, wet and chemical environments.
Petrochemical-plant tank-top and column-base radial gratings — produced with central and peripheral cut-outs and toe plates as required.
Vehicle-rated covers that allow heavy lorries and forklifts to cross drainage trenches. Supplied with frames and lifting lugs.
Workhorse welded bar gratings for industrial flooring, walkways, drainage covers and machinery platforms — 12 mm and 15 mm.
Direct from our specification sheet — the practical advantages of Sri Ranga gratings on site.
Open-grid construction sheds liquids, dust and debris instantly — keeping walkways clear.
Modular panels lift, drop and bolt without site-welding. Damaged panels swap one-for-one.
Standard bar profile is grippy underfoot; serrated bars add slip resistance for wet plants.
Hot-dip galvanised gratings require no painting or upkeep for the life of the coating.
Panels match your actual floor layout — cut-outs and toe plates positioned to drawing.
Better drainage, better grip, lower self-weight and easier to lift than chequered plate.
Our Ekkattuthangal works runs presses, welding bays and fabrication tables in a single building. Bearing flats are received from rerolling mills, cut to size, welded with secondary members, fettled, primed or galvanised, and dispatched.
We welcome buyers, project engineers and EPC contractors at our Ekkattuthangal works. Come see panels under fabrication and discuss your requirement face-to-face.
